This one also belongs to the AI category

Kaiser_Soze, Yeah, I also suspected this release was AI-powered. Sadly, when once-great-sounding artists suddenly switch to AI...

admin, yea and I guess more and more will do it. When you're out of inspiration, I imagine it's tempting to use Suno to create a track in a few minutes. Lifelong Corporation is another example: between 2012 and 2022, they were a 'normal' band releasing a few singles and EP's each year. When SUNO was launched in 2023, they started releasing more tracks and this year they became really addicted to AI and have released 8 (!!!) EP's already. They've even released tracks under another name, Mutation 73, because more and more ppl were convinced they were using AI.

I dont agree with that.

They are a pro German Duo they still very active in the band Combichrist they always use refined electronic material and samples and theres no relationship with Mutation 13 (a very good Spanish Band).

They always been in this register as creative as they are today, so for me its hard to understand left behind music creation to spend 5 minutes creating a SUNO AI song. They participate in multiple band as mastering and editing a producing album thoughout the years. I mean, i dont have nothing against AI but i dont think they are using it. They are just like Steffen Keth & Thomas Adam from DE/VISION complete MASTERS!

Kaiser_Soze, Nah, I don't think so. They've just always been productive with music, so they periodically release a few releases in a short span. You can tell by the voice (at least for now, I don't know how it will be in the future). AI has a specific sound in vocals - a kind of metallic tint, with artefacts, which can't be attributed to processing effects (listen to real live performers in dark electro/electro-industrial styles where distortion and effects are used - the difference is noticeable). And if we talk about the vocals without effects, they become especially noticeably distorted in the choruses, where they hold the note. And also, different bands have identical voices😀.

But AI music is harder to identify. In the early stages of the technology, it was still possible to do that - you could hear it in the quality, the music sounded like it was compressed down to 96 kbps MP3, but now that's very rare, and the sound has noticeably improved.

Lifelong Corporation's vocals (as with Mutation 73) seem to be fine (though I haven't listened to their latest releases in detail), so I don't think they used AI. And the number of releases isn't always an indicator.

carlmcoy, Lifelong Corporation is a spanish act, just like Mutation 73, led by 1 guy (Albert Roda). He is using AI for the music and he's singing on top it. So the vocals are 'REAL' but the music is AI.

Either Way you have to agree with me AI in EBM ELECTRO SYNTHPOP are very difficult to check out more than other styles.

carlmcoy, I totally agree, especially with the new trend (people singing on top of AI generated track, making it even more difficult to identify AI content)

I think it's worth clarifying how the "AI" tag is used on the site. It is applied in cases where the use of AI is either explicitly stated by the artist, or where a release is fully generated - which can usually be recognized by characteristic AI artifacts.

More complex cases are less clear-cut. For example, if AI involvement is partially obscured - when a person records vocals over AI-generated music - it raises the question of whether this should be tagged.

And if a track contains only a single AI-generated sample, is it really necessary to apply the tag? Probably not.

The same applies to "masked" cases: if the use of AI cannot be reliably identified from the music, and the vocals sound natural, then adding the tag becomes debatable. At that point, it starts to resemble listing technical details such as which synthesizer was used - whether it's Yamaha or Casio😅 In most situations, that doesn't provide much practical value, especially considering that AI is already widely used across many aspects of production, including artwork and lyrics.

For example, here https://darkscene.org/104485-wolfman-sully-the-first-album-2026.html is a case similar to what you described - it sounds like a person recorded vocals over AI-generated music. At least they also made a video featuring themselves🙂

What do you think - should releases like this be tagged as "AI"? Especially considering that this tag isn't meant as a "black mark", just simply as additional information to help users understand how much of the release was created by a human.

I have already used SUNO as a part of an experience, so if i use SUNO or any other AI music generator to create music in 5 or 10 minutes i'm the creator of that sound.

AI just help me consistently to do so in short amount time, but the rhythm of the song was oriented by me. Some bands just used AI only for short sounds.

AI is killing creation thats for sure.

Fast music for lazzy "musicians",  but i dont think it should be a AI tag, only if the band explicitly stated.

admin, it will probably be easier for everyone if the AI tag is only used for 100% AI generated projects. If needed, I have a list of known AI projects so I can send it to you if that helps :)

Kaiser_Soze, Yes of course, you can send it to me in a private message (or here in the comments), I would be grateful👍️

admin, they've just released a new EP (again 100% AI) and I'm still working on that list - but there are new AI projects every hour so it's a neverending task lol: https://open.spotify.com/intl-fr/album/5Kmvo1QkbTG3pfRcEAwna6?si=r1o9rpwYTquRE2gAIKTHdw
