Atropine was founded as a side-project to the Oslo-based EBM-group Anstalt in 1996 to explore the harsher side of the genre. The project was largely disbanded in 2002, but band-members Alex Jarlev and Cthulberg are still functioning as a group under various aliases including the retro-industrial project Pogrom Synod. Recently the archives are being visited so new material may materialize.
