MAUERBRECHER is not so much a band as a music collective centered on composer and band leader Rane Knudsen. The music of MAUERBRECHER is best described as lying somewhere between the fields of world music, neo-folk and neo-medieval music.
MAUERBRECHER comprises itself of folk songs from around Europe, English Renaissance ballads, American Country and Western ballads, Irish jigs, electronic re-interpretations of medieval dance tunes, and the occasional venture into the realm of dark ambient and industrial noise music.
