Mount Shrine was an ambient/drone project of Cesar Alexandre, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The project usually was characterized by long and repetitive "low-end droning" tracks and 'slow-motion song movements', incorporating lo-fi field recordings, fainting tape hiss and vinyl crackle, and recurrent themes of abandoned urban places and lonely rainy nights.
Initially recording and self-releasing various albums and EPs through his own Bandcamp since late 2017, Mount Shrine released his debut album through Cryo Chamber at July 2018, with Winter Restlessness. In January 2019, he released its follow-up, Ghosts on Broken Pavements.
Mount Shrine also worked under the monkier Mount Hibiki, which self-released three albums through his Bandcamp page. In addition, he released vaporwave / dreampunk albums under the alias Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza.
Cesar died on April 15, 2021, reportedly of COVID-19.
